Metro Schools students vote

Goodlettsville Elementary was one of many schools in the district that held a mock election as part of a statewide effort to encourage civic engagement in Tennessee.

“Schools often participate in programs around Veterans’ Day and elections. Citizenship topics like voting, elections and democracy are addressed in a number of ways in different grades and are specified in social studies standards in grades 4, 5, 8 and high school U.S. History and Government classes,” said Todd Wigginton, director of instruction for Metro Schools.
