Metro Schools Pre-K participates in Tennessee Pre-K Quality Act signing

The Metro Schools Pre-K Department participated in the signing of the Tennessee Pre-K Quality Act (HB1485/SB1899) this past week!

Pre-K Family Involvement Specialists Traci Bryant and Tiffany Rhodes joined Governor Bill Haslam and legislative sponsors Rep. Mark White and Sen. Steve Dickerson as they signed the act.

The legislation, originally proposed by Rep. Mark White and Sen. Steve Dickerson, is designed to improve the quality, accountability and academic performance of the Tennessee Voluntary Pre-K Program.

The legislation will take effect in the 2016-2017 academic year. Many Metro community organizations supported the legislation, including the Memphis Tomorrow, Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, Public School Forum of East Tennessee, United Ways of Tennessee, Greater Memphis Chamber, Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police and People First Partnership.
