It’s never too early to start thinking about summer opportunities

Summer will get here one day. It’s only 129 days away! Nashville has great programs for students who want earn career experience or learning enrichment during summer break. But you’ll have to submit your applications during spring to take advantage of these opportunities.

Juniors in high school only have a few more weeks to apply for the Metro government Summer Youth Internship program. The deadline is Friday, February 19.

The Summer Youth Internship Program is a short-term learning and employment opportunity where you get to work at a Metro Department for twenty hours per week for four weeks. Participants are expected to provide their own transportation to both the training and work sites.

Metro Parks will hold a job fair from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 20 at the McCabe Golf Clubhouse located at 100 46th Avenue North.

The department’s Golf and Aquatic Divisions will offer a variety of jobs, with some starting as early as March 2016. Representatives from those areas will take applications and conduct interviews.

Registration for Nashville Scholars begins on Monday, February 15. Nashville Scholars is now part of NAZA’s Summer Zone and was previously known as Mayor’s Scholars Academy.

Who Can Enroll: Current 7th through 10th grade students

When: June 6 – July 1 | 8:00 am – 2:00 pm | Monday – Friday

Where: Four high school sites – Cane Ridge, Hunters Lane, McGavock, Whites Creek

What: FREE summer program promoting post-secondary success, includes meals, transportation and field trips!
