Eight teachers and 70 students representing Whites Creek’s Academy of Alternative Energy, Sustainability and Logistics explored Vanderbilt’s ground-mount solar cell installation on Wednesday, Dec. 4 as part of a field-based, experiential day of learning.

The Whites Creek Academy of Alternative Energy, Sustainability and Logistics is a three-year program in which students study wind and solar energy, biodiesel and ethanol fuels, and nuclear energy, among other topics, and they have hands-on experience on a farm adjacent to the school.

It is awesome to see the great strides Dr. Bailey and his administration and teachers are making at “the Creek.” I have two grandsons there and I am impressed with the spirit and drive that have been evident over the last four years. My son also graduated from Whites Creek when it was among the best in the district and I’m so excited that it’s headed back in that direction. Go Cobras. “The creek is rising.”
