Cheerleaders at Rose Park Math and Science Magnet Middle Prep recently participated in a service learning project by providing “Good Morning Baskets” to the women veterans in Operation Stand Down’s Transitional Housing Program.

Each basket contained hygiene products (shower gel, loofah, deodorant, lotion, facial cleaners) specific to women, as this was a need communicated by Operation Stand Down staff members.  The Rose Park cheerleaders also had an opportunity to sit down and listen to the women, who shared their military experience, advice on good decision-making, and tips for leading successful independent lives.

As members of the Transitional Housing Program, veterans learn to reestablish a responsible lifestyle, contribute to the maintenance of a home, and create an individual budget.
