Pearl Drums, Little Kids Rock and Korn bring musical joy to Una Elementary School

Who says hard rockers can’t have a soft side?

Ray Luzier – drummer for the band Korn – surprised students at Una Elementary today with a brand new Pearl® drum kit and a jam session with the school’s Modern Band class. The drum kit is one of 20 donated to Metro Schools by Pearl Drums in partnership with Little Kids Rock, a national nonprofit dedicated to expanding music education in public schools.

“We are so excited to work with Little Kids Rock to bring Pearl® drums into classrooms throughout Nashville,” said Pearl President, Terry West. “All children deserve the opportunity to receive a first rate music education and we are honored to help the Metro Nashville Public Schools expand their already rockin’ program!”

Ray Luzier is a big supporter of Little Kids Rock and music education. He visited Una to inspire, entertain and collaborate with students, who have been receiving music lessons all year from their teacher Ryan Payne, who in 2012 was trained by Little Kids Rock and equipped with instruments like electric and acoustic guitars.

Little Kids Rock is the nation’s leading nonprofit provider of popular music instruction, instruments and curricula to nearly 1,300 public schools in 30 cities, having served more than 325,000 children. In Nashville, Little Kids Rock programs reach more than 8,000 students in 38 schools with weekly music lessons rooted in popular music genres like rock, funk, country, pop, metal, reggae and others.

“At Little Kids Rock, we believe in drawing the music out, not drumming it in,” says Little Kids Rock CEO and founder, David Wish. “We are so grateful to work with a company like Pearl Drums who believes in our mission, our approach and the transformational power of music education.”
