New principal named for McGavock Elementary School
Today Jason Taylor was named as the new principal at McGavock Elementary School. Taylor takes over for the exiting Lance Forman, who has begun work at the new Smith Springs Elementary School.
Taylor was most recently an assistant principal at Dodson Elementary just a few miles from McGavock. He has spent his entire teaching career serving Metro elementary schools in Hermitage, Donelson and Old Hickory, with nine years teaching at Andrew Jackson followed by assistant principal jobs at Ruby Major and Dodson.
“Jason is not only a tremendous educator,” said Dr. Steele. “He is also deeply ingrained in this community and the perfect choice to lead McGavock Elementary. He knows these families and their needs, and he will lead McGavock with a steady hand. He puts a strong focus on collaboration and community engagement, both of which will serve his students very well.”
Taylor is originally from Ohio and earned his bachelor’s degree at Emmaus Bible College in Iowa. He also holds a master’s in educational leadership from Trevecca Nazarene University.
