Fall Play Season Is Here!

Fall play season is here! Nashville is known for its arts scene. Metro Schools always put on amazing plays and musicals.

Here are a few big shows going on this weekend!

THE KING AND I – Hume-Fogg

Hume-Fogg’s fall musical, THE KING AND I, opens tonight. Performances will be held November 6-8 at 7 p.m. as well as November 8 at 2 p.m.  Considered one of the greatest musicals of all time, THE KING AND I is a delight for the whole family!  With beloved songs like “Shall We Dance?” and “Getting to Know You”, see Anna and the King of Siam struggle toward mutual respect in this unique love story.  Seniors Shawn Sookram and Jessie Gholson lead the cast of over 60 students.  The royal children are all portrayed by students from local elementary and middle schools. We will have the amazing 50 piece Hume-Fogg orchestra playing for the show along with a fantastic 17 member technical crew. Tickets are $5 for students, $10 for adults and reserved seats are $13.

A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM – McGavock

McGavock High School is now into running Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream. It involves students from all of McGavock High’s grades (9-12) and academies. The show also features original Shakespeare language. You can see the final 2-hour shows tonight and Saturday at 7 p.m. Tickets are just $5.

Nineteen Eighty-Four – Hillsboro

The Hillsboro Players are putting on George Orwell’s “Nineteen Eighty-Four.” This play introduced us to the term “Big Brother” and is more important today that ever before.  The show us running this weekend and next (Friday, Saturday & Sunday) Nov.  7-9th & 14-17th at 7 p.m.

General Admission is $8 and students are $5.
