Graduation & Dedication: New beginnings for students & a school
One celebration for two new beginnings all at the same time – what a wonderful day!
The Simon Youth Academy at Hickory Hollow graduation was also the school’s official dedication on Wednesday, December 18. Built in the southeast campus of Nashville State Community College, the Academy gives students a second chance at graduating from high school.
In just four years, the Academy schools (Hickory Hollow, Old Cockrill, and Opry Mills) have graduated more than 1,500 students. They go on to post-secondary studies, careers, or other training programs.
The Academy schools are unique in that they are 100% personalized to each student, meeting them where they are, getting where they need to be, and preparing them for where they want to go.
The Simon Youth Foundation has supported the schools for years and now offers scholarship opportunities to graduating students!
Thanks to Simon Youth and Nashville State Community College for helping make this school possible. The connection between high school and post-secondary education is critical, and Nashville State is a great partner of Metro Schools.
And of course, thank you to the hard working students and faculty of the Academy schools. Their hard work is truly one of the best education stories happening in Nashville!
