It’s been a terrific year for Music Makes Us, and it’s only getting better. The program has a brand new look and a new website to show it off.

MusicMakesUs.org can tell you all about music programs in Metro Schools, including a listing of every music program in our schools, searchable by school.

From Director Laurie Schell:

The new Music Makes Us website is an insider’s view of a work in progress– the evolution of a new model for music education in Metro Nashville Public Schools. At a glance, the reader will learn about Music Makes Us, how to get involved, existing programs, and resource links for deeper engagement. We are most appreciative of the ongoing support and leadership of Mayor Karl Dean, Dr. Jesse Register, the Music Makes Us Advisory Council and the music industry and community leaders. And we are grateful to the founding donors of Music Makes Us, whose initial investments have fueled our early progress.

As always, we invite your participation and support.

Music Makes Us is a collaborative effort between Metro Schools, Mayor Karl Dean and music industry leaders. It focuses on music literacy and boosting student participation. Through Music Makes Us, music programs are available in every single K-12 Metro school, from traditional offerings like marching band and chorus to contemporary classes like hip-hop, songwriting and mariachi.

I suggest you sign up for the Music Makes Us newsletter, which delivers good music news to your inbox on a regular basis.
