School Choice Spotlight: West End Middle School
West End Middle is beautiful. Just look at it.
Inside that historic building is one of the toughest and most prestigious academic programs in the world: International Baccalaureate. IB challenges students with high quality, advanced curriculum that is developed and taught all over the world. IB students are “internationally-minded” in that they all learn a second language and the skills needed to live and work with others from around the world.
Teachers give students a positive attitude on learning, “by encouraging students to ask challenging questions, to reflect critically, to develop research skills, and to learn how to learn. We encourage community service because we believe that there is more to learning than academic studies alone.”
From West End Principal Jeff Keith:
“Our goal is to awaken the intelligence of students and teach them to recognize relationships between school and the world outside school by combining knowledge, experience, community service and critical observation. Additionally, we want to provide students with a high quality educational program for developing, improving and applying knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in the diverse world in which we live.
If you have never visited West End IB World School, do so. What’s going on inside that beautiful building needs to be discovered!
