Want to go to West Point or another U.S. Service Academy? Go here first.

As you make plans for what comes after high school, one option to consider is attending a U.S. Service Academy.

Members of Congress, including our representative here in Tennessee’s 5th District, Jim Cooper, are able to nominate a limited number of people to service academies each year including:

  • U.S. Military Academy (West Point)
  • U.S. Naval Academy
  • U.S. Air Force Academy
  • U.S. Merchant Marine Academy
  • U.S. Coast Guard Academy

Admission into a U.S. Service Academy is fiercely competitive but offers graduates the opportunity to receive a college degree and become commissioned officers in their respective branch of service. Academy attendees also have their tuition paid for in exchange for a minimum of five years of military service upon graduation.

To help students learn more about all that U.S. Service Academies offer, Congressman Cooper is hosting Academy Day 2013 at the Nashville Downtown Public Library, 615 Church Street Saturday, October 19th at 10:00 AM with registration at 9:30 AM.

You can meet with representatives, alumni, and current Cadets and Midshipmen from all five Military Service Academies. You can also meet with ROTC representatives and learn about available college scholarships.
