At Warner Enhanced Option School, Mariana Merritt from Communities in Schools (CIS) works to support individual children through case management and also offers support to the school by bringing together community resources and partners to invest in the students and school.

Through her efforts, CIS and The Eden Gate Church have given much appreciated and consistent hands-on involvement at Warner throughout the 2012-2013 school year. Justin Lett, pastor of The Eden Gate Church in East Nashville said:

“We are called to love our neighbor. We seek to do this through all of our partnerships. Warner is a magnificent opportunity for us to love our neighbors through service for the growth of our community. We are glad to be able to join Communities In Schools and Warner staff in the great work being done at Warner.”

This partnership has provided a consistent and dedicated group of volunteers who faithfully assist in Family Night events, build relationships with teachers, staff, children and families, and genuinely show up ready to impart energy, encouragement, and the community backing for our school family.

Early last July, more 75 volunteers came out to clean, paint, pressure wash, and transform the building! They came through the service coordination of CIS, The Eden Gate Church partnered with First Baptist Church of Bonham, Texas, and Donelson Christian Academy. Eden Gate Church also created a teachers lounge and a beautiful 8′ x 20′ mural with two flat screen televisions at our front entrance.

Mariana said, “I am beyond grateful for the time, energy, and financial investments The Eden Gate Church has made at Warner Elementary. It is amazing to have the opportunity to continue to work with a community partner whose investments make such a difference in the lives or our children and school.”

Principal Lori Flemming was amazed at the commitment of the volunteers and the hard work that they put in during the week. “I can’t wait for the teachers and students to come and see the work that has been done. It is a true offering of love that we have been given and we are blessed with a terrific partnership. “

Thank you Eden Gate Church for your commitment! We appreciate you!
