Metro Schools names Vanessa Garcia executive lead principal

Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools has named Dr. Vanessa Garcia as executive lead principal for elementary schools.

“Dr. Garcia is truly an instructional leader with specialties in strategic planning and communications. She is a proven leader with a record of success providing instructional direction to schools and principals,” said Jay Steele, chief academic officer.

Dr. Garcia serves on the adjunct faculties of Trevecca Nazarene and Lipscomb Universities. She served as principal and assistant principal at Poplar Grove School in Franklin Special School District and taught for three years at Centennial High School in Williamson County Schools.

She holds a bachelor of arts degree from MTSU and a master of education and doctor of education from Trevecca Nazarene University. Dr. Garcia succeeds Dr. Mildred Nelson, who was named principal at Kirkpatrick Elementary School.
