Antioch High students lend a helping hand to Academy Partner, Community
“Can we do this again?” was the first thing Antioch junior Karina asked after presenting corporate training to Spanish-speaking employees at the Hilton Suites in Brentwood.
In late April, the Antioch High Schools Academy of Hospitality’s Spanish teacher, Stephanie Ridley, took four bright and ambitious students who speak Spanish to the hotel to translate and present training to some Spanish-speaking employees.
Antioch students Priscilla S. (Academy of Hospitality), Karina B. (Academy of Teaching and Service), Ruby L. (Academy of Teaching and Service) and Clarisa A. (Academy of Automotive Technology) took part.
“The students were so excited to participate and inspired by what we did!” said Ridley. “They were delighted to give back to their community. They also assisted the employees in filling out documents confirming their participation in the annual training.”
Tom Rybak, general manager of the hotel, was so pleased with the results he extended an invitation to work with the Antioch students again, which they accepted.
“This collaboration strengthens and expands the partnership between Antioch’s Academy of Hospitality and the Hilton Suites in Brentwood,” said Ridley.
